The Yakovlev team wears the ALPHA Eagle helmet, which was designed for use by the pilots and crews of helicopters and fixed wing, non-ejection seat aircraft. The combination of light weight, (980grms) very strong epoxy resin and an aramid carbon fibre shell construction, offers high levels of protection and wearer comfort in a range of multi-function helicopter operations, including police air support and emergency services, forestry and crop spraying.

The wearer comfort of the ALPHA Eagle is enhanced by its EPS inner liner and a cushioned cloth interior - designed to inhibit the formation of moisture, improving hygiene and reducing thermal heat load. Simple and rapid adjustment of the crown, ear cups and nape enables the ALPHA Eagle to fit a number of different of head shapes and sizes to optimise comfort, retention and balance. The adjustable ear-cups provide excellent passive noise attenuation for protection against the potentially damaging low frequency noise levels experienced by helicopter aircrews.

In common with the manufacturers’ proven, modular-based ALPHA configuration, the basic helmet can be adapted to meet different operational requirements using many equipment options. These include single or double visors with clear or tinted screens, a choice of semi-rigid or NVG compatible visor covers, and a variety of boom microphones with compatibility for most on-board communications.
