Visitors had to elbow their way through the crowds at the Aero Expo th
is year - particularly around the ice cream stand. The show, held at Wycombe Air Park (Booker), saw an audience bigger than last year despite disappointing weather.
Two of the team's Yak 50s were on display at the Haywards Insurance, Shell, and Garmin stands, and attracted much interest. Pilots Jez and Jim were also in attendance, but got photographed decidedly less than the aircraft - or Sanne and Kirstyne, who were there to help promote the sponsors.
The Yakovlevs were at the Haywards stand to lend their support to the insurance company that now dominates the Yak market, thanks to their great policies. The team's Yaks wouldn't be in such great shape without them! Check out Jez's interview on PilotWeb, in front of the Haywards stand by clicking here.
The aircraft recieved a last-minute polish from Gryphon Cleaning, and looked spotless throughout the show. Gryphon was on hand to give seminars at the Expo on how to properly clean an aircraft. The company had its own stand at the show.
The event was also a showcase for the launch of new products, such as Shell's Ondina EL smoke oil, featured at this year's eye-catching Shell stand. This eco-friendly alternative to diesel oil is taking the display scene by storm. Ondina is classed as safe for human consumption, which means pilots don't have to deal with nauseating diesel fumes anymore. The new smoke oil even produces whiter smoke, is better for the aircraft's paintwork, and less slippery too!
Not to be outdone, Garmin's stand featured the new GPSMAP 496. Simular to the GPSMAP 296, this model includes terrain alerting, VRPs, which makes the pilot's journey that much safer. All the Yakovlevs aircraft have been kitted out with Garmin equipment, which is also available on the Shop page on our website.
When you're done shopping, stop by the team gallery, where more pictures of the event will be posted soon. We are also still on the hunt for your own submissions. Feel free to send us any snapshots you gathered of the team, by sending them to sanne@yakovlevs.com.
